WALK OF DREAMS

The John Giles Foundation in association with
3 is delighted to launch the Cork ‘Walk of Dreams’, which will take place on Sunday, 27th March in Cork City at 3pm.

The ‘Walk of Dreams’ will bring together all of the many Cork football clubs to walk in solidarity as the football family whilst raising funds both for the Club and the John Giles Foundation to continue the growth of football in Cork.

John Giles wishes to harness the great energy of our football family to come together on the 27th March to work together and walk together to demonstrate that our football clubs form a large and very important part of Irish community life offering many thousands of people an outlet to enjoy themselves and make friends.

The John Giles Foundation was founded to use football as a vehicle for social change to build community cohesion, increase participation and to improve health and education.

The John Giles Foundation is in contact with all Cork football clubs and will shortly send out brochures and sponsorship cards. Each club will appoint a ‘Walk of Dreams’ captain to manage their clubs fundraising and walk on the day. Each club will walk under their own clubs banner and should try to get not just the players and coaches involved but as many people as possible from their town or village to walk with them on the day and show how important their club is to the community.

Half of the funds raised will be retained by the football club themselves, while the other half shall go to the Foundation for community football projects. Clubs, schools or community groups can apply for funding to implement or improve football based community projects.

The John Giles Foundation is supported by 3 and the Football Association of Ireland.
As part of 3's wider sponsorship of the FAI, 3 has a great affinity handset offer to support grass roots football. Simply get club members, family or friends to switch to 3 and 3 will donate money to your chosen club. It's all part of 3's  €10 million support fund for local football. The more people that switch, the more the club can make. Just a hundred people switching to 3 could earn the club nearly four grand to help with new kit, team transport or fixing the showers. For further information on 3’s affinity deal for local football clubs contact Mark McMahon, FAI Sales Manager at 3 on 083-3507653.
