POSTAL CELTIC

2007-08

Postal Celtic achieved their aims this season as Brian Newman explains: “At the beginning of the season we set out our stall to consolidate our newly won Division 1 status and hopefully have a bit of success in one of the cups. It was mission accomplished.”

“True we had a poor start in the league, the worst performance a 2-0 away defeat to Lee Rangers in November. That was a turning point and we went undefeated after that game for about 12 weeks, racking up the points that saw us safe in the end.”

“Our cup run also materialised when we reached the final of the St Michael’s Cup in April. Unfortunately on the night we were beaten by a better team, Carrigtwohill. Our best performance of the season was probably away to St John Bosco’s in the semi-final when we won 3-1. This is the type of display that we will be looking for on a more consistent basis next season.”
