GRATTAN SURGE

The players of Grattan United have given the famous old club, which started back in the Middle parish but which has migrated to the northside, a high profile in recent years.

Last season, the spotlight was very much on the AUL Premier side, under manager Pat Caulfield. They played high quality football and made many friends on their terrific run to the closing stages of the FAI Junior Cup. They are still in this season's competition and made further progress with last week's win over Clonmel Celtic.

Grattan eventually ended up as the undisputed champions of the AUL Premier League. Not to be outdone, the second string won promotion and reached the final of the President’s Cup.

This success didn't come about by accident. It has much to do with the men behind the scenes, the backroom members who have been nursing the club for years. Most of the credit for the success of the teams and the improvement of the facilities at O’Neill Park is down to them.

And now they need a little help, a little surge to get the club to an even higher level. Improvements are ongoing at O’Neill Park and soon a new state of the art dressing room building will be in place there.

All these developments cost and Grattan are now appealing to all former players and friends to get in touch and they’ll be given all the data on the club’s plans, the second phase, and how they can help bring them to fruition. The men to contact are Joe Lynch at 086 1055004 and Don O'Leary at 086 3711024.
