Nou Camp
Barcelona FC

Highlight of my summer hols was a six-day visit to Barcelona and one of the highlights here was a call to the Nou Camp the home of Barcelona FC. Even got my photo taken with the Champions League Trophy! Happy as any child!

The tour which, thanks to a small reduction because of the fact that I came via the well known Tourist Bus service, cost less than ten euro. It takes you through the dressing rooms, into the Interview Room (above), onto the margins of the pitch and up through the stands and then down to the very extensive museum.

While you are going round the many exhibits, see if you can find the picture that features the top hatted O’Connell, their one and only Irish manager. It is in the 30s section

Struggling non-league junior clubs must be encouraged by this fact. In 1908, the club was about to fold, mainly because it had just 37 members. Nowadays, it has some 113,000 members.

I took the direct Cork-Barcelona route with Aer Lingus. (Ryanair go to a well out of town airport). Got the Airport Bus into Catalunya Square for just €3.50 euro and stayed at the Continental Hotel on the action packed La Rambla, action from early morning ‘til early morning.
