Man of Match: Howard Coakley

Goals in the 117th and 119th minutes gave Maymount Celtic a just about deserved 2-0 extra time win over visitors Tramore Athletic in Sunday’s Snickers FAI Under 17 Cup game at Killowen.

Maymount, with Echo man of the match Howard Coakley a handful, caused problems for Tramore all through, and came very close in the 57th minute when a Lloyd Crowley header from a corner was cleared off the line. Coakley went close a few more times but Tramore keeper Roy Heaphy was in great form.

Heaphy  was finally by Leonard Baker shot from distance. Two minutes later, Maymount’s substitute Anthony O’Callaghan’s 20 yard shot put the game beyond Tramore’s reach.

Maymount’s Howard Coakley combined work-rate and skill. He was always a thorn in Tramore’s side, always willing to have a shot and deserved his man of the match award.
