Lakewood (dated 30.11.03)

Ballincollig
 AUL 1

Lakewood Athletic 0 Ballincollig 0

Chances were few and far between as Lakewood Athletic, fresh from their win over league leaders Macroom, and visitors Ballincollig played a boring scoreless draw in Murphy’s Stout AUL One.

Ballincollig’s best chance came in the 65th minute. Jason O’Leary started the move in his own full back position as he pushed the ball on for Barry O’Driscoll. Pat Flanagan then took over and picked out O'Leary who had kept running and was by now close to goal. But O’Leary failed to take control of the ball and it bounced away from him and over the end line.

Both sides upped the tempo in the closing quarter, as each needed the three points. The best opportunity of this phase came Lakewood’s way in the 80th minute, when Brendan O’Leary’s headed effort, off an excellent Martin O’Leary corner, flashed narrowly over the bar.
