Ard-na-Laoi 2 Dripsey Celtic 5

Promoted Dripsey Celtic continued their quest for the title in Murphy’s Stout One A with a well deserved 5-2 away win over Ard-na-Laoi at Leemount on Sunday morning.

The first shock for the visitors came in the second minute when Ard-na-Laoi full back Brian Cahalane tried a shot from the right. His well hit effort hit Gavin Holland and looped up over scrambling keeper Raymond Moynihan before ending up in the net.

The lead was doubled in the 6th minute. There was a decent build-up to this one before Niall Langan crossed for Jim Delaney to finish.
The breakthrough goal for Dripsey came in the 26th minute. Brian Linehan's through ball split the home defence and Aidan Buckley took it into the box before laying it off for Paddy O’Sullivan to beat keeper O'Mahony. Buckley had a go himself from a narrow angle but the keeper saved well by his near post.

And Buckley was also involved in the equaliser. That came in the 31st minute when his free kick was finished off by Paddy O'Sullivan.

Ard-na-Laoi lived dangerously in the opening moments of the second half, before going behind for the first time in the 55th minute when Lenihan arrived unmarked at the far post to head in a well struck Noel O'Sullivan corner.

Dripsey made it 4-2 nine minutes later, from the penalty spot. Full back Colm Morris was adjudged to have brought down Paddy O’Sullivan. Aidan Buckley confidently stepped up to take the spotter and sent keeper O'Mahony the wrong way as he doubled the Dripsey lead.

The winners are gradually introducing some of their U17 players to the junior panel and it was one of them who would make it 5-2 in the 82nd minute. David Buckley and Gavin Holland combined in the build-up and it was young Joe Murphy who supplied the finish.
