CONGRATULATIONS TO: Tony Fitzgerald.
Vice President of the FAI:
For the first time in almost 40 years, one member of the Murphy’s Irish Stout Cork AUL League will not be involved when the season commences this week end.
Tony Fitzgerald, former chairman and fixture secretary, who gave sterling service to the league retired from the Cork AUL at this year’s A.G.M.
Tony will be missed by all members of the league as his advice and wisdom was always readily available and the management committee was cognisant of this fact as Tony had the happy knack of listening to all the circumstances whilst summing up each case in a very common sense fashion before any decision was reached.
To-day, Tony was elected at the FAI AGM in Wexford as Vice President of the FAI.
We in the Cork AUL are all very proud and impressed that one of our distinguished members has been voted into such a prestigious position in the FAI.
And it is very re-assuring that the FAI has made an outstanding choice in electing a person for this important position with such intellect, innovation, and most importantly, fair judgement for the years ahead.
There is no doubt that Tony will become a pivotal player in helping the association strive to reach the highest level and beyond.

An extensive Profile on Tony's football life will follow on the Evening Echo in the near future.
