From the FAI:
A number of weeks ago the Football Association of Ireland wrote to all club and league secretaries in order to bring to their attention a significant commercial opportunity with a blue chip company that we felt may be of interest to clubs. The company approached the FAI because they feel that mutually beneficial agreements can be reached that would assist clubs in the development of their infrastructure. The company is called Shared Access and is a private, well capitalised Irish company which manages communications infrastructure for wireless operators at major Irish developments such as Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin Port Tunnel and sports stadia such as Thomond Park, Musgrave Park amongst others. For those of you who have responded and completed the enquiry form you will receive some contact from Shared Access imminently. For those of you who have not yet expressed an interest to date I would like to provide you with a further opportunity for your club to register their interest, hence this second notification. The Shared Access proposal to you: Shared Access will deliver a turnkey floodlighting solution at your club which meets and in some cases exceeds relevant regional and grassroots competition standards, should the clubs location prove suitable and agrees to host their infrastructure. As well as creating a valuable improvement for your Club’s facilities, the development will also provide an annual income with a significant share of the rental revenue given directly to the Club by Shared Access. If your club already has floodlights, Shared Access would still like the opportunity to discuss development options with you, which could include a significant, upfront capital contribution to the Club, and also a share in the annual rental revenues accrued by Shared Access. I am interested in finding out more, what are the next steps? For further information, please visit www.fai.ie/sharedaccess which will provide further information about the programme and complete the online enquiry form, which will only take a few minutes. Clubs that complete and return the form on or before 31st July will be entered into a draw to win one of a further ten Umbro Vouchers provided by Shared Access to the value of €500. In summary, this is potentially a great opportunity for your Club to benefit from a significant capital investment with the added benefit of a long term annual rental income. There is no obligation on clubs to enter into an agreement with Shared Access and any agreement will purely be between the club and Shared Access, however, we do believe that this may provide an opportunity for some clubs to realise the development of their facilities and is worthy of some consideration.
Yours sincerely
Richard Fahey Director of Club Licensing and Facility Development,
The Football Association of Ireland.
