COUNTY CUP
Donoughmore Athletic F.C. 1 Park Utd o

Donoughmore advanced to the quarter final of the County Cup with a brilliant team performance over first division Park Utd last Sunday. Donoughmore started without three first team regulars but their replacements fitted in seamlessly and from the start this was a very controlled performance from the victors.
The first half was a good tough competitive affair with both teams creating a number of half chances but neither team really troubling the opposition goalkeepers. The teams went in 0-0 at half-time and it was at this stage that Donoughmore realised that the game was there for the taking.
They upped the ante immediately from the restart and were rewarded in the 55th minute when Jonathan Hennessy scored the winner with a great finish low into the far corner after being put through by Dave Hogan. The goal seemed to awaken Park Utd and they won several corners in a 10 minute spell but Noel O'Connell in the Donoughmore goal handled everything that was thrown at him.
As the game went on Donoughmore always looked dangerous and were constantly looking for the second goal. Hennessy had a great effort cleared off the line and a further effort well saved. Rob O'Sullivan and Peter Murphy also had good opportunities to score but were narrowly off target.
The Donoughmore defense was exceptional all day and were rewarded with a well deserved clean sheet. Damien Hennessy and Darren Barrett worked tirelessly in the centre of midfield for Donoughmore throughout whilst Pat Foley, Colm O'Sullivan, Darragh O'Shea and Cathal O'Hanlon had excellent games in what was a brilliant team performance.
