The Football Association of Ireland recently launched the online form
for the annual AVIVA Club of the Month Awards.

The awards will recognise clubs' achievements and displays, on and off the field of play. The awards, which are now in their third year, will distinguish some of the finest football clubs in the country through a series of monthly prizes culminating in the AVIVA Club of the Year Award, which will take place in Monaghan on Friday July 3rd to coincide with the FAI’s “Festival of Football” prior to the Association’s AGM on Saturday, July 4th .

The AVIVA Club of the Month Award will be presented each month in
partnership with the Irish Daily Star and Citywest Hotel. Selected
clubs will receive a plaque and a cash prize and will be role models
to other clubs.

The clubs will be judged on six different criteria including,
administration, coaching, participation numbers, facilities,
performance and contribution to the community.

The online application form is available from the FAI website and the
closing date for the AVIVA Club of the Month Award for April is
Friday, April 24th.

The monthly winner receives 1500 euro and the Club of the Year will receive 5000 euro. There are still 5 monthly winners to be decided so there is a great chance for any of the clubs involved to win the competition. The link for the application form is:
Congratulations to Wilton United on winning the AUL Third Division. It is fully deserved after coming so close in previous seasons and to go unbeaten in a campaign is an incredible achievement. Well done lads. See you again next season.

Youth Soccer by Tony Fitzgerald

The 2 Cork Daly Supplies-Stihl Youth teams have been drawn at home in the semi finals of the FAI Umbro Youth Cup

Castleview were 1st out of the hat and were drawn against Salthill Devon from Galway, while Cork City will again oppose Clonmel Town-they play each other this Friday night in the semi final of the Lucozade Sport Munster Cup in Turner’s Cross @ 7-30-provided the protest lodged by Newcastle west in the game against Clonmel is not upheld. The protest lodged, Clonmel Town won the game 4-1, is against the referees from the T.S.D.L., who staffed the game.

Cork City have an added advantage in trying to overcome the challenge from Clonmel Town/Newcastle west as the winners of that semi final will have the final in their area.

Semi Final Draw:

Game2: Cork City v Clonmel Town/Newcastle west
Matches will take place on or before week ending 12th April

Donoughmore Athletic F.C. 1 Park Utd o

Donoughmore advanced to the quarter final of the County Cup with a brilliant team performance over first division Park Utd last Sunday. Donoughmore started without three first team regulars but their replacements fitted in seamlessly and from the start this was a very controlled performance from the victors.
The first half was a good tough competitive affair with both teams creating a number of half chances but neither team really troubling the opposition goalkeepers. The teams went in 0-0 at half-time and it was at this stage that Donoughmore realised that the game was there for the taking.
They upped the ante immediately from the restart and were rewarded in the 55th minute when Jonathan Hennessy scored the winner with a great finish low into the far corner after being put through by Dave Hogan. The goal seemed to awaken Park Utd and they won several corners in a 10 minute spell but Noel O'Connell in the Donoughmore goal handled everything that was thrown at him.
As the game went on Donoughmore always looked dangerous and were constantly looking for the second goal. Hennessy had a great effort cleared off the line and a further effort well saved. Rob O'Sullivan and Peter Murphy also had good opportunities to score but were narrowly off target.
The Donoughmore defense was exceptional all day and were rewarded with a well deserved clean sheet. Damien Hennessy and Darren Barrett worked tirelessly in the centre of midfield for Donoughmore throughout whilst Pat Foley, Colm O'Sullivan, Darragh O'Shea and Cathal O'Hanlon had excellent games in what was a brilliant team performance.
Donoughmore Team: N. O'Connell, P. Murphy, R. O'Sullivan, C. O'Sullivan, P. Foley, D. Hogan, D. Barrett, D. Hennessy, C. O'Hanlon, J. Hennessy, D. O'Shea. Subs: C. Crowley for D. Hogan, C. Buckley for C. O'Sullivan.
