Following a hugely successful run at the Everyman Palace Theatre Frank Twomey and Pakie O’Callaghan continue their tour of the highly acclaimed Santa Ponsa or Bust.

Corkbeg AFC in conjunction with Genie Productions is bringing the hit comedy show to East Cork for the first time. On 16 October, audiences at the Trabolgan Holiday Centre will have a chance to see this uproariously funny play that has captivated crowds wherever it has played.
Written and performed by comedians Frank Twomey (left) and Pakie O’Callaghan the play began life as a radio soap and immediately grabbed the attention of audiences.

Everyman Palace Theatre was convinced that Santa Ponsa or Bust would work on stage and approached Frank and Pakie to rewrite the soap for the Theatre. The stage version has become the most successful home grown comedy in the Everyman Palace Theatre’s history.

Story of the play :
Santa Ponsa or Bust charts the adventures of two hapless Cork couples Finbarr and Carmel, John and Noreen. Wide boy Finbarr, while “working” on his ninth FAS scheme, is approached by a dark and mysterious starnger. In return for bringing a sealed package to Santa Ponsa the dark stranger offers Finbarr and Carmel and a couple of their choice two weeks in the internationally renowned Hotel Del Mar, Santa Ponsa.

But there is no such thing as a free Paella. What follows is the holiday from hell. The two couples are pursued by the Bulgarian mafia and it’s ruthless leader Hans Von Snicht through the seedy flesh pots and gay bars of the tacky resort. Escape from the cluthches of Von Snicht comes at a high price - Finbarr and John are arrested by the Spanish police and locked up in Benalmedena Prison. Will they beat the rap. Will their women wait for them on the outside. Only time will tell.
Don’t miss this smash hit comedy which will be performed for one night only at Trabolgan Holiday Centre

Santa Ponsa or Bust is directed by Michael Twomey. Set design is by Lisa Zagone and lighting design is by Paul McCarthy.
